Interview with Izzy Syzn for her new release, "Resurrection of Artemis"

Make sure to read all the way through for an excerpt and a chance to win a prize!

First, tell us about Resurrection of Artemis.
Resurrection of Artemis is the story of Amy Wilson who when she was a kid, was taught how to hack by a neighbor that watched her while her mom worked. Amy had a natural knack for it, and started small. She became known as a cyber Robin Hood.

She eventually gets caught when she causes an accidental blackout and is on probation in exchange for jail time and for helping the government to put in safeguards for preventing an attack.

She only has a few months left of her probation when things started to happen again, and all fingers are pointing in Artemis’ direction. But Hinderer the person involved wants to hold technology hostage, and he needs Artemis’ help to complete his mission.

But Quail City’s crime fighting duo Dark Master and Calypso also known as multi-billionaire Noah Adams and his assistant Vanessa London, know Artemis isn’t behind the attacks, but Hinderer’s crime spree might get both Amy and Artemis where they want her.
What gave you the idea for the story? The synopsis sort of sounds like Hackers meets Batman with a threesome!
I work in a call center for a cell phone company, one day there was a huge phone outage in Texas and people were going nuts. I thought what if someone actually did it on purpose?
It is a sexier version of Batman, Noah’s butler’s name is Al, and I’ve changed the names a bit of the commissioner.

This was supposed ot be a short 80 page story, but I ended up making it much larger.
Why did you decide to self-publish this title?
Because I am finding I don’t have the patience to wait on a publisher’s time frame.
What was the biggest challenge in self-publishing?
Getting your book noticed more. Each book I put out, I learn something each time that I can apply it to my next one.
What’s your favorite title in your backlist and why?
Hmmm, fav? I think Fang-Filled Weekend, it’s the first of my Other World Agency books, I think it’s when I discovered how much I love writing paranormal. I have three in the series, and I promise I’m working on book four.
What is the best habit one can have as a writer?
Write, even if it’s a few lines a day or something. Also appreciate your readers, and any authors who help you along the way and pay it forward. I’m so lucky to have the support of other writers who have given me advice.
Is there anything else you’d like share today with our readers?
I just hope that you like my book. If you do, feel free to email me at or visit me on Facebook, where I hang out most of the time. I have an Ask Izzy day every Friday on my fan page.

Quail City’s super heroes Dark Master and Calypso aka as multi-billionaire Noah Adams and his assistant Vanessa London know Amy’s secret, and also know that she is being set up. Having spent months in a flirtmance with Amy, they are tired of waiting and want both her and Artemis in their bed.
Hinderer wants to hold technology hostage, but in order to do that he needs Artemis’ assistance, and he will use any methods necessary to gain her cooperation.

“People have been mentioning Artemis,” Calypso said. “You wouldn’t have heard anything?”
They knew, Amy thought. Somehow they knew. “No, Artemis isn’t here anymore. At least from what I heard.”
“Damn shame, too,” complained one of the customers in the shop. “Not the Artemis that is playing with the lights and stuff. But the Artemis who liked to help people with their problems.”
“Yeah, I think if someone is behind it, it’s someone pretending to be Artemis, or trying to shift the blame on her,” said another customer. “She may have done some things, but she’d never deliberately set out to get people hurt.”
Amy smiled at the person that made the comment. “I’ve been here all day. But it’s more than the traffic lights. Didn’t I hear that the other day the Financial District was shut down because the money showed at zero?”
“That is something that Artemis had fun with,” Dark Master commented. “Or had in the past.”
“I’m sure that whatever has been happening in Quail City has nothing to do with Artemis,” Amy replied.
“Hope for Artemis’ sake it’s true,” Calypso said. “Williams is ranting and raving in Commissioner James’ office asking for her to be arrested.”
Just bet he is, thought Amy. “Is there anything else I can get you?” Amy asked them. She saw that it was almost six and the last bus going towards her apartment would be there any minute.
“You in our bed,” Calypso said in her ear. “Your blue hair will look glorious on our pillows.” Then out loud stated, “That’s all for now.”
