First Newsletter Coming Out this Week

If all goes according to plan, I will release my first official newsletter on 1 April. If you would like to join the mailing list, please sign up here.

Also appearing Thursday will be my short story "New Dat" at Whipped Cream Reviews. This is a story based on the phenomenon we all experienced last year as the Saints marched toward victory: a whole bunch of people became fans, including a lot of women who had never been into football before. And what's the one thing all of us Saints-lovin' women want? That's right, season tickets, baby.

Not a bad week by all accounts...

First, I've set up my fan page on Facebook, so if you'd like to fan me, here it is.

Second, I got a super review at Night Owl for The Lovely Kittengirls of Mew Orleans. Here it is.

Third, I'm working hard on two separate stories now. My Two Doms is nearly a fifth done, and my holiday story is well underway.

Also, we've had about eight people sign up for my newsletter. Remember, no prizes will be given away until we get to 1000! So tweet it, blog it, whatever. Every person who subscribes that you send will get you an extra entry! Sign up here.

Interview with Eric Del Carlo

I've had the good fortune of editing Eric's last few books for Loose Id. He's an extraordinary sci fi writer whose work is right up my alley.

Today, in honor of the release of Through a Midnight's Mist, the third book featuring Nickerson and BlaqJaq, he's graciously agreed to let me interview him.

Here it is:

GG: Tell us about how you created this world in which BlaqJaq and Nickerson live. How did you develop it?Where did you get the inspiration?

EDC: The attraction arose from the possibility of writing a novella, a form that had always fascinated me but which very few magazines will even look at.  Seeing Loose Id's guidelines for the first time provided the "inspiration," and from there it was a pragmatic matter of putting together a workable world and characters that would accommodate this particular length.  I imagine that sounds mercenary, but BlaqJaq and Nickerson did come to life for me as soon as I set them loose in their nihilistic, cyberpunk set…

He's got one more BlaqJaq and Nickerson story coming out Tuesday with Loose Id, Through a Midnight's Mist. It's definitely one to put on your Must Read list, particularly if you read the other two stories about these guys. Hot and sweet sci fi at its best.

First Review Blues

I got my first review today from You Gotta Read Reviews. I didn't read the ranking first, just the comments from the reviewer. The comments were great and very encouraging from my point of view. She clearly got what I was trying to do and said some really nice things, but then I went back and realized I only got a "You Could Read" which is the second from the bottom. Of course, my shoulders slumped, I got that sinking feeling in my stomach, and yes, a few tears sprang forth. I'm so afraid that readers won't look past the ranking to read what she actually said...
